<p>Because most foods have some form of sugar in them, it is nearly impossible to eat a totally sugar-free diet. However, it is definitely possible to cut out the unnatural, bad forms of sugar, which are found in processed foods, soft drinks, desserts, and other sweet treats. If you do, there are a number of health advantages. While some people only give up sugar after being diagnosed with diabetes or another serious medical condition, this new way of thinking about food can benefit almost anyone. </p>
<p>First and foremost, keep in mind that there are good forms of sugar, even if you are diabetic. Naturally occurring sugars, like those found in fruits or honey, help give the body energy, and in the case of fruit, are packaged in the food with plenty of fiber, which helps slow down the release of sugar during digestion. While some medical conditions demand that even natural forms of sugar be regulated closely, for the average person, these types of sugars are fine in moderation. The problem comes with concentrated sugars, which are usually processed. Corn syrup, glucose, and your common white granulated table sugar are all examples of “bad” sugars. Those are the types of sugars you need to give up! Keep in mind that sometimes foods are filled with bad sugars even if they do not taste sweet. For example, white bread and other refined carbohydrates can really cause your blood-sugar level to spike. </p>
<p>One of the most beneficial results of cutting sugar out of your diet is weight control. This is not a crash-course way to diet, but over time, cutting the bad sugars out of your life will help you stabilize you blood-sugar levels on a daily basis. Sugar, or, more specifically, glucose, is meant to give you energy. The bulk of that energy should come from complex carbohydrates, which give the body energy over longer periods of time (hence the reason most nutritionists suggest a high-carb breakfast to start the day). Simple sugar, on the other hand, is meant to give the body a shorter burst of energy. When you eat sugar and do not need that energy, the body’s blood-sugar levels spike. The body tries to compensate by storing the extra glucose for later, as fat. Eating sugar is not, by far, the only reason why you may be overweight or obese, but it is a contributor. </p>
<p>Another major advantage to refraining from eating too much sugar is that it can help you avoid potentially serious medical problems. If you have already been diagnosed with diabetes, then you know how hard it can be on your life. Diabetes, although common in the Western world (especially the United States), can be extremely dangerous if left unregulated. If your blood-sugar levels spike or drop, you could fall into a diabetic coma and die. Refusing to regulate your sugar intake can also lead to vision problems and other complications if you have diabetes. By controlling the sugar in your diet now, you are lessening the chances that you will develop insulin-related problems in the future. Most cases of diabetes in the United States are avoidable! </p>
<p>A sugar-free diet also helps you eat a healthier, more well-rounded diet overall. Many of the foods we eat that are filled with sugar are also lacking in nutrients and filled with empty calories. By ridding your diet of sugar, you are cutting out the foods that are, in general, bad for you. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule, but when you focus on sugar-free foods, you automatically prepare meals that are healthier for you and filled with the vitamins, minerals, and proteins your body really needs. Sugary foods tend to fill you up without giving you much in return, while if you eat high-quality foods, you feel full without packing on weight or leaving your body lacking key nutrients. </p>
<p>Lastly, eating a sugar-free diet has a positive effect on the body that most people don’t think too much about – it helps with oral health. We all know that dentists warn kids against eating too much candy, but whether you are seven or seventy, sugar is bad for your teeth. Why? Some of the bacteria that are responsible for tooth decay, gum disease, and other mouth-related problems are kicked into gear when they come into contact with sugar. So, unless you brush your teeth and floss every time you eat something, not eating sugar is one of the best things you could do for your oral health. </p>
<p>Eliminating sugar from your diet is not easy. Not only is it found in almost all foods, but also the list of ingredients can be confusing on food labels. If you plan to go sugar-free with your diet, make sure you talk to your doctor about doing so in a safe, healthy way. </p>

<p>I can see the cops coming! They’re a good thousand feet away. I can clearly make out their uniforms and swinging nightsticks. How can I be seeing this?</p>
<p>I didn’t dare mention it to my fellow underage drinking mates lounging with me on the grassy knoll in the park. Am I making this up? Projecting it somehow into my vision? Forcefully, I shook my head back and forth in an effort to free my mind of its strange perception.</p>
<p>But the view of the two police officers remained in my sight, as they sauntered closer and closer to our drinking den. In fact, to my further astonishment, I saw a much wider perspective as I swiveled my gaze within the picture before me. I can see myself!</p>
<p>Frantically blinking my eyes open and shut trying to erase this impossibility, I still found myself staring at my own physical body on the ground next to my beer buddies. The place from which I was viewing was about forty feet in the air! As I shifted my attention to look at the looker, I saw an airborne body in the form of a luminous shimmer, much like a ghost is portrayed in a movie. Then, with the ease of a mere thought, I discovered I could shift my point of view from my physical body on the ground back to my ethereal light body in the air. Using my eyes in my subtle body, I surveyed the scene again from my perch in the air.</p>
<p>Am I making all this up? Do I want to impress my pals so much, I’m concocting an extrasensory perception to allow me to warn them of an oncoming bust? My frenetic self-questioning came to an abrupt halt as I heard one of the officers whisper to his colleague, “Do you hear that noise? There are some kids in the park.”</p>
<p>Whether I was conjuring my supernormal sight and hearing to court favor with my friends or not, I needed to act—and quickly. “Hey, guys, don’t ask me how I know, but there are some cops right up the street and they’re on to us. Let’s split.” My three inebriated friends and I quietly sneaked down the hill and out of the park under the helpful cloak of darkness. By a nanosecond, we successfully evaded detection as we heard the policemen slashing at the bushes with their billyclubs right behind us. A close call!</p>
<p>“Hey, how’d ya know the fuzz was there?” my buddy pressed me, as we arrived safely back at our car.</p>
<p>“Uh, I just knew somehow. A guess, I guess,” I muttered, covering for myself as best I could under the circumstances.</p>
<p>“Well, a pretty good one, man. We’d be up the creek if they caught us. Thanks. You’re all right. We should have you around every time we go drinking.”</p>
<p>Ah, music to my ears. And so my young career as a drinking guard began!</p>
<p>My friends, at sixteen, were older than I, but still under the legal drinking age of eighteen in New York State. I was fifteen and considered myself really lucky to be included in this older gang at a time of life when acceptance and belonging was paramount. And to have access to liquor through their connections was heaven for me.</p>
<p>I would do almost anything to please these guys and stay tight with them. I mused to myself, My newfound super-vision is coming in real handy. If we got busted for underage drinking, we’d all get grounded by our parents, not to mention getting in trouble with the law. I’ve got to keep this good thing going!</p>
<p>On that fateful night, my need for approval prompted me to keep expanding this burgeoning, new skill that I stumbled across in the line of necessity and opportunity. </p>
<p>As I played with my prowess as a night watchman for the gang, I realized I was doing more than clairvoyance, “clear seeing.” Each time I playfully sent myself out to scan the scene for police, I was having a bona fide out-of-body experience. I didn’t have a name for it then, but I sure knew I was doing it! I was right on the mark every time I called a cop alert. My skill was valued by the friends I valued. Literally, I was flying high!</p>
<p>Since my teenage discovery, I’ve continued to explore out-of-body adventures. And I always laugh in admiration when I look back on how God tricked me into developing my first natural spiritual ability. </p>

<p>In my medical practice, whenever I begin to talk about Vitamins &amp; Minerals, most people ask “What are Vitamins and/or Minerals, do I need them and what is the best way to get them?”</p>
<p>I begin by explaining that the human body requires certain essential vitamins and minerals to be introduced, usually through food, into the body on a daily basis. </p>
<p>The only problem with this is that our modern day farming techniques can and often does remove an amount of those essential vitamins and minerals. A government study done over seventy years ago warned us that our soils were depleted of many of the necessary nutrients (vitamins and minerals), which means if the nutrients aren&#8217;t in the soil, how do you expect them to be in your fruits &amp; vegetables? Modern farmers use fertilizers that speed the growing process, but these fertilizers lack many of the nutrients that need to be in the soil. Than there is the processing of the produce that can remove even more of the vital nutrients. So what are we to do?</p>
<p>The answer is very simple. You need to supplement your diet with a Whole Food Supplement. I do not mean an off the counter, at your grocery store, vitamin and/or mineral, I mean a True Whole Food Supplement. There is a very big difference between the two. </p>
<p>By definition (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), whole food supplements are foods that have been compressed into tablet form, poured into capsules or powdered. The word “whole” indicates that the end product — a supplement — does not contain parts of foods, or synthetic or isolated vitamins. Ideally, the foods comprising these supplements have not been subjected to irradiation, contain no pesticide or herbicide residues, contain no GMO (genetically modified organisms), have not been sterilized, and do not contain animal products that have been subjected to steroids, antibiotics or other drugs. The belief being, the closer to nature, the more benefit foods provide the consumer.</p>
<p>Further, whole food supplements should not contain isolated minerals, amino acids, carotenes or any other substance that is not native to, and still intact within, the original food. Thus, a supplement that contains foods plus a mixture of isolated (also called “fractionated”) vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other substances, does not constitute a whole food supplement. Examples of whole food supplement ingredients may include carrots, broccoli, kale, alfalfa, wheat grass, acerola cherry, cauliflower, kelp, wild pansy, spirulina, bovine liver, bovine kidney, radishes and quinoa.</p>
<p>As for your typical over the counter multi-vitamin/mineral, as Mercola.com puts it, please don’t make the mistake of shopping for supplements at discount stores or large chains like Wal-Mart or Walgreen’s. In my opinion, these are examples of companies that primarily use cheap synthetic ingredients.</p>
<p>Synthetic alternatives to whole foods are known as “isolates”. Your body will absorb only a small percentage of an isolate form of vitamins and minerals and utilize even less. On top of that, there could potentially be side effects, depending on the quality of the isolate. </p>
<p>Many retail outlets and online sellers are primarily interested in your money, not your health. Supplements are not their specialty.  Always refer to medical practitioners who specialize in Health &amp; Wellness, for your nutritional questions.</p>
<p>You wouldn’t go to your local Fast Food Restaurant for a nice steak, would you? The same attitude should apply to your health products. You will get what you pay for, so buyers beware.</p>

Though many margarine advocates will claim that the taste and the nutritional content between the two are nearly the same, the truth of the matter is that there are in fact many noticeable differences between these two products. </p>
<p>Whether you cook with or use them mostly as a condiment, and you are looking into general health and weight loss management concerns, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind when making your decision. </p>
<p>Taking the time to do a little investigative research, about which of the two products you feel best about using, just may be time very well spent on your part. Take an unbiased look at only the facts, into how each of the two foods are actually made, and let your emotions guide you in making the most informed decision you possibly can. Aside from the cost being a prohibitive factor in your selection process, the big question is really this, which of the two foods would make you feel better about eating on a regular basis? Above all else, you must be happy with your choice. </p>
<p>The first thing that you need to consider is what kind of fats each of the two foods start out with. Butter, being made from the cream of milk, is high in animal saturated fat, and when used in excess can facilitate weight gain. On the other hand, 90 percent of the oils that are used in margarine are typically very cheap, and poor quality hydrogenated oils, which are high in those unwanted Trans fats. We are slowly beginning to learn more about Trans fats and the risks that they impose upon our health. Trans fats will essentially increase bad LDL cholesterol levels, which is has been indicated as a common risk factor in developing heart disease. </p>
<p>It is possible to find margarine spreads that have been made without using hydrogenated oils such as coconut, or palm kernel oil. Both of these types of oils contain plant based saturated fats, but many nutritionists now believe these types of fat to be far better for you to overindulge in than the polyunsaturated varieties. The main difference between the two, is that fats like coconut and palm kernel oil contain high amounts of lauric acid, a medium chain fatty acid which is also a potent antifungal, antimicrobial compound. Vegetable oils like safflower, canola, soybean and cottonseed oils are high in omega-6 essential fatty acid, which are mostly long chain fatty acids. Essential for the diet yes, but in much smaller amounts than most people tend to eat on a daily basis.  </p>
<p>When you are looking at whether butter or margarine is good for you, you will find that butter comes with a high source of naturally occurring vitamin A. Vitamin A plays an important role in your immune system and it can help you stay healthy longer. Also, consider the fact that the vitamin A found in butter is a substance that can help you regulate your thyroid gland activity, improve vision, as well as allow you to get more rested sleep. It is the most readily absorbed source of vitamin A found in the American diet. </p>
<p>Similarly, it will also help you through providing you with more calcium in your diet. Because most people do not regularly drink non-pasteurized milk, it means that we are not getting as much calcium as we possibly could; consider the fact that the calcium found in butter can help lower your risks of developing degenerative bone and cartilage diseases like osteoporosis and arthritis. </p>
<p>Another interesting point to ponder is that butter is a naturally high source of iodine, selenium and other trace minerals that can be easily absorbed. This will prevent things like the development of goiters and other issues connected to the endocrine system. </p>
<p>When you are thinking about the issue of healthy fats, remember that there are good fats and bad fats, and that butter falls into the latter category. One type of fat that you will find in butter is glycospinglipids (a specific type of fatty acid) which helps you defend against gastrointestinal infections. Whole milk tends to help you improve your stomach health, especially if you can tolerate it, and you will find that this can actually help with your weight loss issues. </p>
<p>Something else to consider as well, is the fact that there is a definite loss of nutrition when the cream (butterfat) content of milk has been flash heated. Raw milk and cream possesses many nutrient dense health benefits that are destroyed during the pasteurization process. The end result is a product that is not nearly as good for you as the basic one. </p>
<p>There is a lot of evidence to support the fact, that the naturally high vitamin C content found in raw cream is eliminated by up to 50 percent after pasteurization. And, the antioxidant vitamins A, D, and E are also compromised by up to 20 percent from this process. Not to mention the near elimination of other naturally occurring trace minerals, amino acids, enzymes and good bacteria that aids your body in blood absorption and intestinal digestion. </p>
<p>Only unpasteurized butter contains the identifiable (anti-stiffness) substance known as the &#8216;Wulzen factor&#8217; that helps protect you against one of the most common diseases of our time, arthritis. </p>
<p>Take some time to really think about how you have been taught to consider what food choices were best for your body&#8217;s nutritional needs, as if its creation was designed by a brotherly love for your physical fitness. Having the correct information in your mind can greatly contribute to how well you are going to be able to make better food decisions, that affect you and your family&#8217;s health.  </p>
<p>Day by day we are all required to make many decisions that affect different aspects of our lives. That is why learning how to read and decipher food labels, of the many different processed foods that are on offer to us, has become more important to our overall well being than ever before.  </p>
<p>This may seem like a real no-brainer choice for me to make, although I know everyone will see this argument a little differently. My personal, and first, choice will always lean towards eating the real thing when I can get it. Second best choice would be the pasteurized version, which is abundantly available in stores everywhere. Both of which would be more preferable options from your body&#8217;s point of view, than refined (plastic) polyunsaturated vegetable oil spreads. Besides, real butter just plain tastes better than some artificial goop that was invented to mimic the taste of the real thing, but designed to be easier to spread when taken out of the refrigerator. </p>
<p>Somewhere in time we are going to learn that our bodies actually do need a wide variety of different types of fats to maintain an optimal level of health. Eating high amounts of any one specific type of fat, and not enough of another, throws the body into a state of nutritional imbalance. Speaking of which, is highly preventable once you understand a few facts. </p>
